Walmart project is DEAD

Walmart is dead. According to sources Walmart cancelled 15 new projects due the economy and ours was one of them. I have no clue if they pick it up again at a laer date or not but for now it is not coming. The ethanol plant is also a no go. MSK

  1. ya but who didnt already know that when they first started talking about it, I think with obamas support for biofuels and renewable energy the ethanol plant might some day be built but we will probably never get a walmart but all I see on the news is that wal mart is doing better because of the bad economy

  2. I just heard from a pretty good source that Wal-Mart is just on hold for now. They are being wise because of the mess the U.S. is in. They bought the land, bought the turn off lanes into the walmart. Give them time to watch the economy. What else will they do with the land they purchased and the off ramp? If they invested all this money for the land, it doesn't make sense to throw it away. Go to the lepc meetings, etc. Joy

  4. Looks like form the paper that I may be wrong about the ethanol plant. We'll see. $50,000 is not very much compared to the $100,000,000.00 projected cost of the plant. MSK

  5. well just because the company finally bought the ground that doesnt mean they will build on it anyway

  6. Red Man, you are right, it doesn't maen they will build, but it is encouraging that they bought the ground. Why buy it if they have no intention of proceeding? Could be that they have alterior motives too. Like maybe they have a buyer for it? It also sounded like they have altered their original plan, and are wanting to build a bio-diesel plant. Whatever it is, it is plus for Ulysses that they bought the ground.

  9. I dislike driving to G.C. or Lib to get cheaper groceries, but with the prices in Ulysses, I'm forced into doing it. I buy with coupons or specials, but even then I pay almost half the price more in this town. "Remember the sign-Buy it in Ulysses"? It needs to be tore down. Its hard to beleive one contaniner of yogurt is almost 50cents over and beyond what WalMart chgs at 48 cents without a sale. Cary is supposed to be so sweet and nice these days yet he still is taking his grouchy pills according to the help and Daves and Jack n Jill do not give us a real break on any kind of food at all. This is why I go out of town and still save money.
