The Ethanol Plant Money Pit

Ok, here is a question.

WHAT IS THIS A PICTURE OF?

A. A million dollar mud hole?

B. The Grant County Prairie Rehabilitation Project?

C. Waterfowl Refuge?

D. NexSun Ethanol Plant?

Post you answers below.

Now Seriously, I have heard this plant is on hold and may not ever be finished. Grain and fuel prices have made it no longer a profitable venture.

Anyone else know anything?

  2. so what happens if the govt. mandate for more ethanol is not met? is that when they start importing all of it from brazil?

  3. Looks like that Nexsun says they will continue building by the end of 2009. According to the gazette.

  4. Didn't they run out of money...and I mean both of them.

  5. They said it was because of grain and gas prices. Who knows. I will believe it when I see it built. As log as gas price stay low, ethanol will continue to get hurt. They can't make a gallon of ethanol for $2.65 unless they get more government subsides to make up the difference.

  8. Well, he has a great tendency to get the county to donate money to companies then they take off. Remeber the $250,000 that went to the first ethanol plant that was to be on the northeast corner of Stubbs and Patterson?

And he is Nexsun's CFO, right?

  9. I don't know, is he? I know the first one was a bomb. I thought it had to do the new railroad tracks.

  11. It appears there is some shananigans going on with the Ethanol Plant. Read the Ulysses News from 10-28-08 under the County Commissioner Atricle. Scott Malone talking to Long about funding for the plant. I wonder if Rod Kreie has his hand in this problem. Apparently someone from the told city council they had the money in the fund and the same people told the county they would have it in 6 months.
